Brief
Make fashion circular.
Problem
Textile manufacturers generate extensive amounts of waste from unused material, taking up space in landfills and omitting CO2 from burning. These fabrics, although usable and wanted by other companies, are put to waste as the manufacturers do not have time, money, or general resources to redistribute/recycle them.
How Might We Statement
How might we find value in perceived waste on the cutting room floor within textile production?
Goal
To tackle fast-fashion by partnering with clothing manufacturers to create value from their unused strap material.
Proposal
A circular system that bridges the gap between manufacturers who produce scraps and sourcing companies who purchase recycled textiles. This system will entail picking up and sorting textile waste, breaking down the fibres, and respinning them into thread thereby restoring value for redistribution.
